Letter to the editor: Get out now

To the editor:

An open letter to Sen. Roger Marshall:

The public has the option to believe any harebrained conspiracy theory that comes along. The facts don’t have to matter. You, however, are tied to a different standard. As a sworn member of the U.S. Senate you have the duty to seek the truth and defend the U.S. Constitution. You have gone along with Donald Trump’s lies and unfounded claims of voter fraud for your short and disgraceful career in the Senate. As a matter of fact, you would not have been elected if you did not traffic in these lies.

You and the other senators who refused to acknowledge the legal and much reviewed results of our free and fair election are directly responsible for the insurrectionist terrorists who tried to take over our government last week.

There is no honorable way out of this for you. You have two choices. You must resign your office immediately and slink infamously into history or wait to be censured and very likely indicted for sedition, treason and the inciting of violence. The evidence is visible to all and an able prosecutor can make the case. Remember, you won’t have the skirts of Moscow Mitch to hide behind anymore, and your crimes will be exposed for all to see. Remember the ultimate penalty for treason. You are a disgrace and a traitor. Get out now!

M. T. Morley,

Lawrence
