Letter to the editor: A seditious act
To the editor:
It is alarming and distressing that Sen. Roger Marshall and our U.S. Reps. Jake LaTurner, Ron Estes and Tracy Mann are outrageously supporting an attempt to subvert our democracy by overturning the result of a free and fair presidential election. They demand yet another investigation, even though the election results have been confirmed by numerous recounts and audits, the FBI and U.S. attorney general’s office have investigated and found no voter fraud, and courts — including the conservative-dominated Supreme Court — have dismissed over 50 lawsuits by the Trump campaign and allies as baseless.
To attempt to reverse the results of a free and fair election after Donald Trump has clearly had his days in court is a subversive and seditious attempt to overthrow our democracy and install a dictator. Some people may say this is just pandering to the Republican base and is certain to fail, but would we be so sure if Republicans had control of both houses of Congress? Such fascist contempt for electoral democracy is extremely dangerous and must not be tolerated. It is questionable whether politicians who advocate overthrowing our democracy should be allowed to serve in office.
