Letter to the editor: We will remember

To the editor:

To Jerry Moran and Roger Marshall:

You had an opportunity to make a choice: Take a stand to support our constitution and defend our democracy, or turn the page and give lawless thugs a reprieve from following the riotous urging of an extremist anarchist president, create mob violence and attempt to assassinate our vice president, our speaker of the House and anyone else they could find.

You were presented ample verifiable evidence that upheld truth and dispelled horrendous lies used to attempt to return an autocrat to the most powerful position in the world.

You were given a choice: To uphold our Constitution and protect our democracy, or abdicate that responsibility in favor of an opportunity to further your standing with that faction of the Republican party you need to advance your political ambitions.

You were given a choice: To honor our democracy and constitution by voting to convict the insurgent leader and forever draw the line for what is acceptable in a law-abiding society, or place your own political aspirations ahead of what is best for our country.

You were given a choice: Uphold and defend our democracy, or succumb to the pressures of the base you need to stay in office; represent the majority of our citizens, or side with those you rely on for reelection.

You were given a choice. We elect representatives to make good, democratic choices. You failed to impeach Donald Trump. You failed!

And we will remember!

Charley Crabtree,
