Letter to the editor: Please vote

To the editor:

So we are about to have an election. Many in both major parties see this as the most important election of our lives. I agree.

The electorate in Douglas County is largely Democratic. In most cases our selection of local and state elected officials is made in the primary election. Does this mean there is no point in voting in November? Of course not. Both Democratic and Republican candidates for Congress and the presidency want your vote. For Democrats, simply winning the vote in our county for representative, senator and president is not at all enough; every possible vote is needed to offset Republican votes in other counties. How about voters who are confused, uncertain or disillusioned? Get informed. As someone said, not voting or voting for a third party candidate is like staying home on election day and pouting. Please, please be sure to vote, and encourage someone else to vote.

Joe Douglas,

Lawrence
