Letter to the editor: What to fear?

To the editor:

Eric Schmidt (Journal-World letter of Oct. 4) fears to lose some institutions to progressive activism. Maybe it is the institution of holding children in cages on the border, or voter suppression, or maintaining the largest prison population in the world. Quite possibly, he fears losing the right to extract and burn fossil fuels as fast as possible to ensure continued fires, flooding and treacherous storms. Perhaps he only fears equity in the tax code. I guess he fears stopping the selling off of our treasured public lands for development, extraction and profit? Oh, yes, profit. Maybe he fears that we will no longer pledge allegiance to one nation, under Markets. There are countless things– stuff — to fear losing.

Surely, in a Trumpian court the land will be safe from democracy.
