Letter to the editor: Barrett is a blessing

To the editor:

Amy Coney Barrett, the nominee to the Supreme Court, is a woman, a brilliant legal mind, a federal appellate judge and a Notre Dame law professor. She’s an experienced jurist who clerked for Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, and yet is a victim of liberal hypocrisy in their smear campaign.

The liberals attack her because she is white, conservative, married with seven children and attends church. They care not that she is an adoptive mother of two Haitian children in need of a home. In the liberal mind she is not acceptable because she is not beholden to their current radical feminist dogma who say only they can determine who will be considered an example of a successful woman. They don’t respect Barrett’s independent thinking and chosen path to success. Their goal has always been to destroy and pull down every institution that made this country the bastion of freedom and greatest society with economic opportunities for all.

It has always puzzled me why they want to destroy the foundations, structures and traditions of the greatest country in history to attempt to replace it with untested and grandiose ideas. Furthermore, they proffer to do so without consent or any proven successful template of structure or mores. “Progressives” seek to destroy society and those who uphold it, and think different about what is of value in the world. They unabashedly demand we “trust” them and it will be better. No thanks. May God bless us with Amy Coney Barrett as our next Supreme Court justice.
