Letter to the editor: Why he dislikes tests

To the editor:

According to news reports, President Donald Trump recently stated that too much testing just makes you look bad. I’m guessing that’s a lesson Donald might have learned early on in school. Geography (where is India?), grammar (complete sentences), civics (how many governors do we have?), math (crowd size), science (wind farm carcinogens) and history (Frederick Douglass) are lessons that all seem to have escaped his grasp, but that one about testing — that one stuck with him.

In all seriousness, when you are leading your country through a global health crisis, testing identifies the scope and location of your problem. Testing for it doesn’t make you look bad. It makes you look competent and caring.

November is coming. Your vote matters.
