Letter to the editor: Fritzel’s proposal

To the editor:

Thomas Fritzel’s proposal to serve his sentences at home deserves to be explored. Just relieving the local incarcerated population by the absence of a single inmate would not make a difference, of course. If Mr. Fritzel were to extend his offer to take in a significant number of inmates in his expansive residence, and allow proper police supervision, such an offer might appear more attractive, especially in light of the overcrowded prison conditions.
