Letter to the editor: Good reminder
To the editor:
I just want to thank the Journal-World staff for being there. In the current peculiar situation, we have almost nothing scheduled, nothing required. Days of the week have lost their significance. It is pleasing and reassuring to maintain the ritual of going to the driveway to get the paper. Whichever of us goes out gets a view of the world and can give a firsthand report on the weather and the squirrels.
The front page, regardless of the specific news, tells us immediately that people here in Lawrence still are functioning, still getting the news and reporting it. Much of the information is of interest and some, of course, has immediate importance for us. Reading the editorial page remains a pleasure and an annoyance. The sports section has become an interesting exercise in creativity; and it is a reminder that we just are waiting, as we were for the beginning of spring, and the games will begin again.
Vicki and Joe Douglas,
Lawrence
