Letter to the editor: Absolute power
To the editor:
I was very pleased with your article in the March 6 edition of the Journal-World: “Theatre Lawrence event implores attendees to remember Holocaust.” It describes how a Lawrence musician’s grandmother escaped from the boxcar on the way to Treblinka extermination camp. I escaped the same way from the POW train. She is my girl.
Last November I published a book about the Holocaust in Poland: “Dance With Death – A Holistic View of Saving Polish Jews During the Holocaust” by Hamilton Books.
In my other book, “Politics of Ideocracy,” I show how fragile democracy could be during rapid changes in society due to rapidly progressing technology, altering social values, income disparity and, I would add today, climate change.
In such time it is possible for the demagogue to reach for absolute power through democratic elections.
