Letter to the editor: We must speak out
To the editor:
I too am shocked and outraged at the way our president is abusing his power to “put down” protests (which are inherently American) by using “agents” from DHS, ICE, Border Patrol, U.S. Coast Guard, etc. It is time for American citizens, Congress, the Senate, administration officials, etc., to throw the BS flag and call out the president on this issue! Beyond peaceful protests, everyday Americans have little recourse for a redress of said grievances! It is time for people in positions of power to step up and stop this president’s abuse of power before it is too late! Below is a quote that I’m certain none of us care to face:
“First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out — because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out — because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out — because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me — and there was no one left to speak for me.”
