Letter to the editor: Profit before safety at KU

To the editor:

I think it is time that the Lawrence community question the choice that the University of Kansas has made to have the students show up on campus in the fall. It is clear that this choice was not made with the health of students, faculty, workers and the Lawrence community as its basis. But instead this choice by the university is purely an economic choice.

I call on the Lawrence and KU community to challenge the university’s decision in light of the rising cases of COVID-19 in our town. The health and safety of our community is the issue, and the university is putting that safety in jeopardy by opening the campus to students from all over the world. Demand change.

Karl Ramberg,

Lawrence
