Letter to the editor: Street resources

To the editor:

Another winter of dangerous potholes and deteriorating streets with not a street repair crew anywhere.

Apparently the city spent all of its repair money remaking the lightly traveled eight blocks of Lawrence Avenue between Clinton Parkway and 31st Street. New pavement, curbs, new street entrances, new driveway entrances and a bicycle corridor down the middle. I am sure this spring they will do new sidewalks at taxpayers’ expense.

Why was it so necessary to spend a year of manpower and resources to make that little used street into a “showcase street”?

Another example of the city disregarding the interests of the majority of its residents to over-indulge on something for a very few.

At least that street will be another page to show off in the “Explore Lawrence” brochure.

Lawrence
