I agree completely with Ken Meyer’s recent letter. First of all, people in this country are waiting in long lines for food, they have lost their jobs and can’t pay rent, and small businesses have closed. So it is imperative for Congress, although increasing the national debt, to give ample COVID relief.

But $600 won’t even pay a month’s rent. We can cheat hard working Americans, but we can afford to give out foreign aid like it was Monopoly money? It includes $500 million to Israel, $700 million to Sudan, $135 million to Burma, $1.3 billion to Egypt and another $500 million-plus to Central American countries. And don’t forget $10 million to Pakistan for gender studies, whatever that is, and too many more to name.

The point is this country owes other countries $7 trillion, including $1 trillion to Japan alone and another trillion to China. Let me get this straight, we borrow from China to pay for Egypt’s military equipment? I admit I’m not the smartest guy in the world, but does that make any sense? Is it logical in any way? I don’t care of you are a Republican or Democrat, you can’t agree with the irresponsible actions of Congress. If you were a business owner, would you conduct your business in such a manner? It is very noble and honorable to be charitable — that is, if you have money do to so! Charity begins at home! This country seems to be run by incompetent idiots!
