Letter to the editor: Watkins’ bad behavior

To the editor:

The Journal-World reported on Oct. 24 that Rep. Steve Watkins was among the GOP representatives who illegally stormed the secure room holding hearings on impeachment. Dozens of Republicans are on committees that allow them to sit in on depositions and ask questions. They were very much aware of what was transpiring in the impeachment hearings. Watkins obviously knew that these Republicans were very much involved in the impeachment process. President Donald Trump has since encouraged Republicans to attack Democrats. He referred to Democrats as “human scum.” Watkins et. al. complied.

Trump solicited help from foreign interests for partisan gain, both private with the Ukrainians and public with the Chinese. Both were followed by obstruction efforts at any effort to uncover what occurred. These are illegal acts. Watkins should know this. If he did, his storming the hearings is inexcusably juvenile. If he didn’t, he needs a course in constitutional law.
