Letter to the editor: City should listen

To the editor:

If you will let me get a word in for a change on this issue: Kudos to letter writers Scott Henderson, who wrote about the city wasting our money, as well as Craig Voorhees, who wrote concerning the homeless shelter kicking people out.

To Scott, we are about to go down “that sidewalk” ourselves here where we live. And on a street that only runs for three blocks, and yet, many times on my own 5K and 10K walks across town, I am constantly tripping and almost falling because of the poor condition of the walkways in many parts that seem to go unnoticed by the city. And also, as a biker, I still do not see the amount of bike traffic on 21st Street, where they insist that a bike lane needs to be.

As I also stated a long time back that the city never seems to want to listen to those who live here, and have to deal with all this.

Instead, they would rather hire yet another consulting firm for thousands more of our dollars to tell them that what they, the city, want to do instead.

Dave Affalter,

Lawrence
