Letter to the editor: Don’t disrespect officers
To the editor:
I had to take a deep breath before writing in reference to a recent letter appearing in this section. I found it so absurd and offensive to refer to our local police officers as “loose cannons.” I have very good friends — one is an officer with the Lawrence police and one works at the juvenile detention center. They are wonderful people and I am compelled to pray for their safety every morning. Most of the “loose cannons” are on the other side of the badge! I think the officers who risk their lives every day to ensure our safety should be equipped with all the equipment possible. There may be an occasional bad apple in any group, but to paint such a dedicated group with such a broad brush of disrespect is so offensive! Much respect and gratitude to our LPD!
