Letter to the editor: Trump’s obvious lies

To the editor:

Our president gave a speech last week in which he delivered some of his most significant lies. Why so significant? Because unless his lies are understood, they will make life much more dangerous for my grandchildren and yours.

We all know that he has in fact openly lied thousands of times. Now he has praised “America’s environmental leadership,” a big lie filled with smaller ones. He said that his administration has been “good stewards of our public land,” while in fact former coal and oil lobbyists appointed to high government jobs have helped him do exactly the opposite — for example, lifting the moratorium on coal mining, the most polluting energy source there is.

He asserted that his administration is working for “crystal clean” water while in fact the EPA is now engaged in reducing pollution regulations in streams and wetlands

The man who ridiculously said that global warming is a Chinese hoax and that windmills cause cancer is upping his disinformation campaign. The evidence contradicting Trump’s environmental lies fills volumes, while his appointees have been trying to silence U.S. government scientists.

The Trump administration is on track to undo U.S. environmental improvements of the last decade, while claiming that it is responsible for them. In fact those improvements are due to actions by previous administrations and economic factors, not to Trump administration policies.

The environmental emperor is wearing no clothes.
