Letter to the editor: Better range
To the editor:
I believe we will all agree that we need efficient, knowledgeable and well-trained police personnel. A new center will provide a weapons range in town where medical and other police facilities are present, trainees will be available for duty and not driving to train in the country at a range that gets closed due to weather, does not control their noise within established agreement with the county, allows firing of weapons across a public road and allows the use of automatic weapons of any size and caliber. The new center will control their noise and their bullets (that can travel thousands of feet per second and great distances — a concern to anyone traveling, boating or living within miles of the old range in the Lone Star Lake area).
