Justice Larkin Walsh, front left, is pictured Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2025, with Chief Justice Marla Luckert and the five other justices on the Kansas Supreme Court.
Larkin Walsh was sworn in as a justice on the Kansas Supreme Court in an informal ceremony Wednesday morning at the Kansas Judicial Center in Topeka.
The informal swearing-in allows Walsh to begin her official duties ahead of a formal swearing-in ceremony scheduled for 3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 21.
Walsh succeeds former Justice Evelyn Wilson, who resigned in July.
Gov. Laura Kelly appointed Walsh earlier this summer. Walsh, a Leawood attorney, was the Democratic governor’s fourth appointment to the seven-justice Supreme Court.
In June, the nominating commission had also recommended to the governor Douglas County District Court Judge Amy Hanley and Johnson County District Court Judge Christopher Jayaram.
