A 34-year-old man who was reportedly the reason for four Lawrence schools going into lockout on Thursday has been charged with two felonies and five misdemeanors.

The man, Dylan Michael Siler, of Lawrence, was arrested just before 1 p.m. Thursday at Lawrence High School, 1901 Louisiana St., according to the Douglas County Jail booking log.

On Friday, Siler was charged with one felony count of making a criminal threat that disrupted normal operations at Lawrence High. He also faces a second felony charge for interfering with law enforcement officers performing their official duties.

Additionally, he has been charged with three misdemeanor counts of battery against a law enforcement officer, as well as one misdemeanor count each of criminal damage to property and possession of drug paraphernalia.

As the Journal-World reported, four Lawrence schools including Lawrence High, Liberty Memorial Central Middle and Cordley and Schwegler Elementary schools were all on lockout Thursday afternoon after officers were called to 19th and Massachusetts streets on reports of a man who may have had a gun behaving strangely.

A witness also heard the man say “there was going to be a mass-shooting at Lawrence High School,” according to a social media post from the Lawrence Police Department.

Siler is scheduled to have a first appearance at 3 p.m. Friday in Douglas County District Court.
