Lawrence school board members will hold a special meeting Friday morning to convene an executive session on a contract negotiation.

The executive session, according to a news release from the district, is for the purpose of discussing “negotiations in order to protect the public interest in negotiating a fair and equitable contract, pursuant to the exception for employer-employee negotiation” under the Kansas Open Meetings Act. No action will immediately follow the session.

Special meetings generally do not include public comment, the press release said, and no public comment will take place at Friday’s meeting.

The meeting will be at 9:30 a.m. in the district’s Facilities and Operations Office, 711 E. 23rd St.
