The Lawrence school district announced this week that it has named Adam Myer as an assistant principal at Free State High School.
Myer previously worked as a career and technical education teacher and coach at Olathe South High School, and his position will become effective on July 1. The Lawrence school board approved this administrative assignment Monday. Myer succeeds Tina Mitchell, who is transitioning to a district-level leadership position after 14 years at Free State.
“I am delighted to share that Adam Myer will join our Free State community,” Free State Principal Amy McAnarney said in a press release. “He has served in many leadership roles at Olathe South and participated in the Olathe school district’s Leadership Academy. His extensive work includes improving school culture and climate, as well as community outreach. Mr. Myer’s warm and welcoming personality will certainly resonate with students, staff, and our Free State community.”
Myer has spent 12 years teaching CTE courses and coaching football, wrestling, softball, and track at schools in Olathe and Lansing, Kansas, as well as Everman and Millsap, Texas. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Abilene Christian University and a master’s degree from the University of North Texas.
“Lawrence Public Schools is known for its high expectations, educational excellence, and strong sense of community,” Myer said in the press release. “I’m incredibly grateful and excited to join the dynamic Firebird team and look forward to supporting staff and students while contributing to Free State’s culture of excellence–in the classroom, in competition, and in the community.”
