Two juniors in the Lawrence school district received perfect scores on the ACT, the school district announced on Monday.

The students – Katherine Stancil, a Lawrence Free State High School junior, and Emma Ryan, a Lawrence Virtual School junior – earned a score of 36, the highest possible on the standardized test. According to school district spokesperson Julie Boyle, less than 0.5% of students receive a perfect score on the ACT.

The test, which both students took in February, is used in college admissions. The ACT covers four academic skill areas: English, mathematics, reading and scientific reasoning.

A photo of Stancil was not immediately available.
