Lawrence school board meeting moved to Tuesday because of Yom Kippur

The Lawrence school board meeting planned for Monday has been moved to Tuesday because of the Yom Kippur holy day.

Yom Kippur, or Day of Atonement, is the holiest day in Judaism. This year it will occur next week from sunset on Sunday until sunset on Monday.

“The board wants to honor that members of the Jewish community reserve this day … for fasting and prayer,” the release said.
