Lawrence, other Douglas County schools cancel classes Tuesday

Schools across Douglas County have canceled classes for Tuesday because of extreme cold and the possibility for power disruptions caused by the weather.

Lawrence Public Schools will be closed Tuesday, and all school activities are canceled, the district said. Schools will announce if or when activities are rescheduled, and only staff who perform weather-related or time-sensitive tasks at the direction of their supervisors will report for duty, USD 497 said.

Eudora schools, including the Eudora-De Soto Technical Education Center, will also be closed Tuesday, and breakfast and lunch will not be served, according to USD 491.

Baldwin City schools will not hold classes or activities Tuesday, USD 348 said, and although remote students may work on their lessons, there will be no teacher check-ins.

The Perry-Lecompton school district also canceled all Tuesday classes and activities, including practices and games, USD 343 said.
