A 75-year-old Lawrence man has been charged with two sex crimes against a child under the age of 14.

The defendant, Steven Lee Braswell, was arrested early Sunday evening in the 400 block of Michigan Street. On Monday he was charged with one count of aggravated criminal sodomy and one count of aggravated indecent liberties with a child.

The child is listed as having been born in 2010, and the crime is believed to have occurred several years ago, though it was just recently reported.

Braswell is scheduled for a first court appearance on Monday afternoon.
