Multiple fire department trucks responded just after noon Monday to an incident at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
Battalion Chief Aaron Flory said Lawrence-Douglas County Fire Medical units were called to a structure fire at the funeral home, 120 W. 13th St., but when they arrived they detected only an odor of smoke inside the building and located a seized motor on an HVAC handler on the roof, which was evidently the cause for alarm.
Flory said the issue was resolved and the mortuary could continue in business Monday afternoon.
