A woman jumped into the backseat of a stranger’s car uninvited while the driver was stopped Monday at a stoplight near Watson Park.
Police, in a social media post, said the woman was running away from paramedics. Lawrence-Douglas County Fire Medical called for police assistance after getting a call that the woman needed help after 4 p.m. on Monday.
When officers arrived at the scene at Sixth and Kentucky streets, the driver had already gotten out of the vehicle and paramedics were attempting to calm the woman down. Officers were eventually able to get the woman out of the vehicle and took her to the hospital to be evaluated, police said. The driver was not injured, according to the post.
