A multivehicle crash on the South Lawrence Trafficway on Saturday shut down a portion of Iowa Street for about an hour, according to a social media post from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies, troopers and Lawrence police responded to a crash on U.S. 40/Kansas Highway 10 near the West 27th Street intersection about 2:45 p.m. Westbound traffic at Iowa Street/U.S. 59 was shut down while crews worked.

All lanes of traffic were open again by 3:30 p.m. and nobody involved in the crash had to be taken from the scene, though both vehicles were towed, sheriff’s spokesman George Diepenbrock later said in an email.
