Firefighters work at the scene of a house fire on Connecticut Street on Friday, May 16, 2025.
Crews worked to extinguish a fire at around 6 p.m Friday at a house in the 1100 block of Connecticut Street.
Battalion Chief Brandon Holloman said he didn’t have the exact time the fire broke out, but that crews were dispatched after several reports of a structure fire. After a search, they determined the house was vacant, and they got the fire under control within about 30 minutes.
No people or animals were injured, he said, and the cause is to be determined.
At the scene, there were ladders on the front of the two-story home, but the fire appeared to have been in the back. More than a dozen firefighters were on the scene, and by around 6:20 p.m. the fire appeared to be extinguished and crews were rolling up their hoses.
