Man arrested on 6th Street in Johnson County case is from Lawrence; he’s accused of assault with a deadly weapon

A man whose arrest involved agencies from two counties and disrupted traffic on Sixth Street on Saturday is from Lawrence, and he’s charged in Johnson County with aggravated assault, according to court records.

Christopher DeMarcus Bolden, 36, is charged in Johnson County District Court with one felony count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, charging documents said. The incident is alleged to have occurred in Johnson County on the same day as his arrest, May 3. The documents give no further details of what type of weapon was allegedly used.

As the Journal-World reported, Lawrence police and the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office both assisted in the arrest after the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office asked them for help. The arrest took place Saturday evening near the intersection of Sixth and Louisiana streets; the westbound lanes of Sixth Street just west of Tennessee Street were closed to traffic while officers worked.

Bolden is being held at the Johnson County Jail on a $15,000 bond. He is next scheduled to appear in court on May 15.
