A Lawrence man was charged with two felonies after allegedly injuring another person and resisting arrest early Tuesday morning.
John Ross Wolford, 39, is charged in Douglas County District Court with one count of aggravated battery and one count of interference with law enforcement, according to charging documents. He was arrested around 12:40 a.m. Tuesday, according to the jail booking log.
The incident took place at a location in south Lawrence, said Sgt. Drew Fennelly with the Lawrence Police Department. He said that the incident was domestic in nature and that the department would not be releasing much information about what happened.
Fennelly did say that a person was injured in the incident and was taken to a hospital, but that their injuries were not believed to be life-threatening. He also said that the suspect resisted arrest, and that officers had to “take him to the ground.” The suspect also was taken to a hospital “for a cut to his hand sustained during the initial incident” before being taken to the Douglas County Jail, Fennelly said.
