Single-vehicle crash injures 2 people in northwestern Douglas County

Two people were injured in a one-vehicle crash Saturday in northwestern Douglas County, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office said via email that a Chevrolet Trailblazer was going west on North 1600 Road, about 2 miles north of Clinton Lake, at 3:40 a.m. when the driver lost control and crashed into the ditch at East 476 Road.

The driver, a 30-year-old woman from Shawnee County, suffered injuries that were not life-threatening; the passenger, a 29-year-old woman from Wichita, was critically injured. The sheriff’s office said it did not appear either woman was wearing a seat belt.

Medics transported both women to a Topeka-area hospital. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
