Lawrence police officers on Friday morning were investigating a suspected homicide that left a 35 year old woman dead behind a vacant building on south Massachusetts Street.

The body was found behind the former Alford-Clarke VFW Post 852 building at 1800 Massachusetts Street. A bicycle was found in front of the building. Numerous law enforcement officers on Friday morning were processing the area, which included crime scene tape that stretched about three businesses south of the VFW property.

Details were limited, but law enforcement officials on the scene said the victim appears to have been stabbed.
