Lawrence police announced on Tuesday morning that they had located a vehicle and interviewed its driver in connection with a hit-and-run incident on Monday that resulted in critical injuries for a 74-year-old woman and the death of the dog she was walking.

Police had asked for the public’s help in locating the car Monday after the woman and her dog were struck just before 8 a.m. near the intersection of 23rd Street and Barker Avenue. The driver is alleged to have hit the woman and to have continued driving. The woman was taken to an area trauma center, as the Journal-World reported.

Around 8 a.m. Tuesday the department announced the search was over after interviewing the car’s driver. An investigation is underway and the department will provide updates as more information becomes available.
