Dog killed and 74-year-old woman critically injured after hit-and-run; police ask for public’s help in finding driver

Police want you to contact them if you can identify the driver of this vehicle or you see a gray Dodge sedan with front end damage, specifically on the passenger side of the front end.

Lawrence police on Monday were looking for the driver of a vehicle who allegedly struck and killed a dog and injured a 74-year-old woman.

The collision occurred around 7:50 a.m. near the intersection of 23rd Street and Barker Avenue, according to a social media post from the Lawrence Police Department. The driver of the vehicle never stopped. The woman, who had been walking the dog, received critical injuries and was taken to an area trauma center. Police included a photograph of the suspect’s car, which is a gray or silver Dodge sedan with a sunroof and a spoiler on the trunk.
