A 29-year-old Park City man who was reported missing last week was found dead on Sunday in a wooded area north of Lawrence.

Douglas County Sheriff’s deputies were called about a possibly deceased person just before 1 p.m. to an area southwest of the intersection of N 1900 and E 1300 roads in a wooded area just north of the Kansas River, said George Diepenbrock, spokesperson with the sheriff’s office.

The deceased man was found by a hiker who was searching for deer horns, Diepenbrock said.

After an investigation, deputies were able to determine the man had been reported missing from Park City on Feb. 19, and police were able to notify the man’s family, Diepenbrock said. No foul play is suspected at this time and an autopsy is pending.
