A man wanted by Lawrence police for his role in an alleged crime of domestic violence has yet to be located, and police are continuing to ask for the public’s help in finding him.
As the Journal-World reported, Cole Brings Plenty, 27, is wanted in connection with an incident Easter Sunday at a Lawrence apartment. Officers responded to reports of a female screaming for help, but the suspect fled before officers arrived, a news release from police said. The investigation identified Brings Plenty, and traffic cameras reportedly showed him leaving the city immediately after the incident, traveling southbound on U.S. Highway 59 in a 2005 Ford Explorer.
“Our drone team worked most of the afternoon south of town to try to cover a lot of ground quickly — hoping to uncover any leads,” police said in a release Thursday evening. “We’re following up on all the calls and information coming in.”
The release also said that police were in close contact with the family, “who are very concerned as the days pass and are collaborating with the MMIWG2ST Chapter of Lawrence.” MMIWG2ST stands for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and Two-Spirit.
Police reiterated that details of the incident will not be discussed because of the nature of the ongoing investigation.
“Our immediate need is to locate Brings Plenty,” they said.
According to a missing-person flyer, Brings Plenty is a Native American male with long black hair and brown eyes. He is around 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighs approximately 150 pounds. An actor, Brings Plenty played the role of Pete Plenty Clouds in the “Yellowstone” spinoff “1923.”
If you have any information on his whereabouts or his vehicle, police ask that you call 911, LPD at (785) 832-7509, or make an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers at (785) 843-8477.
