Topeka man charged with rape in 2022 Douglas County incident

A Topeka man has been charged with raping a woman who was unconscious in connection with an incident in 2022.

The man, Daniel James Garcia-Hernandez, 22, is charged in Douglas County District Court with one felony count of rape of a person who was unconscious or powerless, according to charging documents. The incident is alleged to have occurred on Jan. 16, 2022.

Garcia-Hernandez was arrested in connection with the charge in Topeka and was booked into the Douglas County Jail around 2:45 p.m. on Saturday, according to the jail booking log.

Garcia-Hernandez is being held on a $75,000 cash or surety bond and he is next scheduled to appear in court on October 17.
