Police investigate another report of a threat at a Lawrence middle school this week, determine it’s not credible
A Liberty Memorial Central Middle School student reported to the school resource officer that another student during lunch on Friday made threatening comments about school violence and harming school staff, according to a news release from the Lawrence school district.
The officer and staff interviewed the student and contacted the student’s family. Police determined that the incident was not a credible threat to school safety, the release said.
Staff initiated disciplinary action in accordance with board policy and will develop a plan of support to encourage safe and positive behavior in the future, according to the release.
The school’s staff and families have been notified of the investigation.
A similar incident occurred Thursday morning at Billy Mills Middle School, as the Journal-World reported. A student reported that another student had made a bomb threat and threatened to bring a gun to school. Police determined that neither threat was credible.
