A mobile home was destroyed and one person was taken to the hospital after a fire in a mobile home park in Eudora Tuesday morning.
Eudora crews responded to a mobile home on fire at 501 E. 10th St., Lot B3, at the Grandview Mobile Home Park, around 8 a.m. to find the residence “fully involved,” meaning fire was showing from all of the windows on the structure, said Chief Mindy Andrasevits with the Eudora Fire Department. No other structures were damaged.
One resident was taken to LMH Health for smoke inhalation. The mobile home was a total loss with an estimated value of $10,000, Andrasevits said.
Eudora Fire crews, assisted by Douglas County Consolidated Fire District 1, were able to put the fire out around 9:45 a.m. The Eudora fire chaplain is working to assist affected residents, Andrasevits said.
In addition to the fire, a Eudora man, Andrew Klebenstein, 58, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of one count of aggravated intimidation of a witness by threat of force or violence and one count of domestic battery.
Klebenstein was not arrested in connection with the fire but was arrested on an outstanding warrant while he was at the scene, said Eudora Police Chief Wes Lovett. Klebenstein is being held at the Douglas County Jail on a $6,000 cash or surety bond.
