An Oskaloosa man died in a one-vehicle accident Saturday on the Kansas Turnpike in Topeka.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol online crash logs, Darryl Scott Hayes Jr., 47, of Oskaloosa, was eastbound on I-470 in Topeka at 9:50 p.m. when his 2006 Ford pickup left the roadway to the right for an unknown reason, hit a tree and rolled down an embankment. The Highway Patrol reported Hayes was not wearing a seat belt.
