Police respond to reported bank robbery in south Lawrence

Police responded to a reported robbery at a south Lawrence bank on Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2021.
Update at 12:50 p.m. Tuesday
Police responded to a reported robbery at a southern Lawrence bank on Tuesday.
Several officers were seen outside of Truity Credit Union, 2221 W. 31st St., around 10 a.m.
Amy Grose, a spokeswoman for Truity Credit Union, later confirmed to the Journal-World that a robbery took place at the bank around 9:30 a.m. She said that an individual who appeared to be carrying some sort of weapon took an undetermined amount of cash from a customer service employee.
Grose said the bank would review security footage and provide the footage to law enforcement to help identify a suspect. Additionally, she said the bank, which is known as the Lawrence South branch, would be closed until further notice.
