A Lawrence man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted first-degree murder after Lawrence police responded to a call for a stabbing early Friday morning.
Brian S. Stubbs, 24, was arrested in the 1700 block of West 24th Street after the Lawrence Police Department responded to a call for a stabbing around 1 a.m.
Patrick Compton, a spokesman for LPD, told the Journal-World that officers found at the scene a 38-year-old man suffering from injuries that looked like stab wounds. He said the man was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
As of 11 a.m. Friday, Stubbs was in Douglas County Jail custody with no bond set. The Journal-World has requested Stubbs’ booking photo, but has not yet received it from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.
According to Journal-World news partner Operation 100 News:
LPD was called to the area of 24th and Ousdahl streets for a disturbance that was later upgraded to a stabbing. Once on the scene, the suspect ran and police were involved in a short foot chase with him.
The man who was stabbed was transported to Overland Park Regional Medical Center. The patient report described a single stab wound to the lower right abdomen and various small lacerations to his arm and the left side of his face.
The weapon was described as a pocket knife, “approximately two to three inches” long.
