A 29-year-old woman died after being trapped under her own vehicle Monday in Lawrence, police say.
The woman, a resident of a home in the 3400 block of Augusta Drive where the incident occurred, was attempting to have her car towed, around 11:20 a.m. Monday, Lawrence Police Department spokesperson Patrick Compton said.
The sedan was in neutral, and in the process of attempting to get it on the tow truck, the car began rolling, Compton said. He said it appeared that the car began rolling on its own. The woman was behind it and became trapped underneath.
Compton said he did not know who all was present or who was in the immediate vicinity during the incident.
The woman was extricated from underneath the car, and first responders attempted lifesaving measures, but she was pronounced dead at the scene, Compton said. He said it appeared the incident was a “tragic accident.”
