A Lawrence man has been charged in Douglas County District Court with three counts of sexual exploitation of a child.

Bruce Stanley Springsteen, 62, was arrested early Thursday and charged Friday afternoon. The complaint in his case alleges that Springsteen possessed child pornography on three occasions.

Springsteen had his first court appearance Friday, according to online court records. A judge set his bond at $50,000 cash or surety, and should he make bond, he is to have no contact with any children younger than 18 and no internet access, the records show.

As of Friday afternoon, Springsteen remained in custody at the Douglas County Jail, according to the jail booking log. His next court hearing is set for Monday afternoon.

The Journal-World requested Springsteen’s booking photo from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office late Friday afternoon and received it early Tuesday.
