One man killed, another seriously injured in car accident on I-70, Kansas Highway Patrol reports

A Minnesota man was killed in a car accident on Interstate 70 in Douglas County, according to a Kansas Highway Patrol crash report.

David Lee Woelfle, 50, of Lino Lakes, Minn., was driving a Ram ProMaster near the 199 mile marker on I-70 when he hit a deer around 2 a.m. Sunday, according to the report. That’s in between the McDonald Drive and Kansas Highway 10 interchanges.

Woelfle reportedly lost control of the vehicle, struck the inside barrier wall and came to rest in an eastbound lane of the highway. A GMC Yukon was heading eastbound, did not see Woelfle’s vehicle and struck its passenger side, according to the report.

The Yukon’s driver, 36-year-old Carmunanne Radke, of Shawnee, suffered possible injuries. Passenger Daniel Bursey, 36, of Edwardsville, suffered suspected serious injuries. Both were wearing seat belts, and both were taken to Stormont Vail hospital in Topeka, according to the report.

Woelfle was not wearing a seat belt, according to the report.
