The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office was unable, as of 1 p.m. Monday, to provide any new information about a crash last week that left six people dead and one injured.

The head-on crash occurred Thursday evening on Kansas Highway 10 just west of the interchange at Iowa Street/U.S. 59 Highway, the Journal-World previously reported.

Both vehicles involved caught fire, the sheriff’s office told the Journal-World. Six people in a Ford Fusion were killed in the crash; the driver and sole occupant of the other vehicle, a GMC, was seriously injured and taken to an area hospital.

The crash report was not yet complete when the Journal-World inquired Monday morning.
