A Lawrence man was charged Thursday in Douglas County District Court with three counts related to child pornography.

The charging document alleges that 23-year-old Jordan L. Brantley employed, persuaded, enticed or coerced a child under 18 to engage in sexually explicit conduct for the purpose of promoting a performance, between July 17, 2017, and Feb. 4, 2018. It also alleges that he traded child pornography on the internet between Aug. 3, 2017, and Feb. 1, 2018.

Brantley is charged with one level-3 and one level-5 felony count of sexual exploitation of a child, with level-1 being the most severe type of felony to follow standard Kansas sentencing guidelines. The charge of internet trading in child pornography is a level-5 felony, according to the charging document.

Brantley was arrested on a warrant Wednesday afternoon at the Lawrence Police Department’s Investigations and Training Center, the Douglas County Jail booking log indicates.

A judge on Thursday set Brantley’s bond at $50,000 cash or surety, according to online court records. He is to have no access to the internet and no contact with children under 10 years old. His next court appearance is scheduled for Nov. 7.
